Commercial use

When you need a commercial licence and what to send us.

What counts as commercial use?

Any use that is not personal. This includes use by companies, use as part of a business activity, use on behalf of clients, a fund or another person, use by several people, and any display or distribution of the data to others, including in apps, websites and products.

What are the options for commercial use?

See commercial pricing (opens in a new tab) or write to sales@eodhistoricaldata.com with a description of your use case. If your requirements fall outside the published commercial plans, please contact sales@eodhistoricaldata.com. If your use becomes commercial later, a commercial licence is required from that point.

What information should I send when asking about commercial licensing?

Explain which datasets and APIs you need, how they will be used, who will have access, and whether the data or derived outputs will be displayed, downloaded or redistributed. Include whether the audience is public, registered users, paying customers or an internal team. Commercial terms depend on the actual use case; a personal-plan price is not a quote for those rights.

If my private project later becomes a public service, can I keep using my personal plan until it earns revenue?

No. Arrange the appropriate licensing before making the service available to others or using it on behalf of a business. The change in use, not the first payment from a customer, determines whether a personal plan is sufficient.

About these answers

The answers on this page apply to all personal plans and reflect our Terms and Conditions (opens in a new tab), which are the only governing document for personal plans. We do not issue separate written permissions, licence letters or signed confirmations for personal use. If your use falls within the personal-use cases permitted here, additional confirmation is generally not needed. For cases that this FAQ directs to sales, or uses outside those described, contact sales@eodhistoricaldata.com.
