AI tools, cloud servers and your own software
ChatGPT, Claude, cloud servers, bots and private pipelines.
Yes. When you use a public AI service such as ChatGPT or Claude yourself, through your own account, it is a tool you use for your own analysis, just like a spreadsheet or a programming library. This is not "retransmitting", "redistributing" or "granting access" to the data in the sense of the Terms, because no other person gets access to the data. No separate permission is needed.
The usual personal-use limits still apply:
- The AI results are used only by you.
- You don't publish or share the data, or the AI output that contains it, with other people.
- You don't build an AI-based service, bot or app on our data that other people can use. That is commercial use.
We also provide an official MCP server (opens in a new tab) for connecting our data to AI assistants.
Yes. A cloud server or VPS that you use solely for your own private analysis is equivalent to your own computer. It may have a public internet address, and you may access your own dashboard remotely, provided access to the data and application is restricted to you, for example through authentication. You must not make the data or a service built on it available to other people.
Yes, as long as you are its only user. If other people use the software, or if it shows our data to them, that is commercial use.
Yes. Automation does not by itself make a use commercial. The pipeline must remain for your own private use, use APIs included in your subscription, and stay within the API limits. It must not become a shared data feed or a service for others.
Publishing your own code is different from publishing the data. Keep API keys, downloaded datasets, cached responses and outputs containing the data out of public repositories and downloadable examples. Use synthetic example data where needed. A hosted version that supplies data or results to other users requires a separate licensing assessment.
Yes, under the same private-analysis rules above: only you use it, and it does not publish the data or provide a service to other people. Making the assistant available to a group or connecting it to a public channel changes the use case. Keep your token out of shared prompts, public logs and exported conversations.
Yes. The same rules apply as for any other data: private storage and replay for your own strategies is permitted, and redistribution is not.
About these answers
This page answers the questions we receive most often before people subscribe to a personal plan: how AI tools may be used.
The answers on this page apply to all personal plans and reflect our Terms and Conditions (opens in a new tab), which are the only governing document for personal plans. We do not issue separate written permissions, licence letters or signed confirmations for personal use. If your use falls within the personal-use cases permitted here, additional confirmation is generally not needed. For cases that this FAQ directs to sales, or uses outside those described, contact sales@eodhistoricaldata.com.
