Storage, retention and cancellation
What you can keep, for how long, and what happens when you cancel.
Yes. Non-Professional users may store, manipulate and analyse the data for private, non-commercial purposes. This includes raw API responses, normalised or transformed versions, databases, encrypted backups, and copies moved to a replacement computer.
May I keep audit or provenance records (source values, tickers, dates, retrieval timestamps, hashes)?
Yes. You may keep them for reproducibility, also after your subscription ends.
Yes. Data downloaded while your subscription was active may be kept and used for your private, non-commercial purposes after cancellation or downgrade. The Terms contain no deletion requirement and no deadline. Cancellation stops renewal; access continues through the paid period. Afterwards, access to new data and updates depends on any remaining subscriptions or the Free plan. The ban on redistribution continues to apply.
May I keep my derived results, such as calculations, indicators, valuations, backtest results, return series, statistics, notes and model outputs?
Yes. Derived research outputs may be created and kept indefinitely, during and after your subscription, for your own use. This applies whether or not the source values could be reconstructed from them; what matters is that neither the data nor the outputs are shared with others.
May I subscribe for one month, download a large historical dataset, and keep using it after cancelling?
Yes. There are no extra restrictions on systematic downloading during a subscription, as long as you stay within the API limits. The data you downloaded may be kept after cancellation as described above.
Access remains available until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.
Cancellation stops renewal; it is not an account-deletion request or an API-token change. Your paid access continues until the end of the paid period. After that, access depends on any other subscriptions you still hold or the Free plan, while your retained downloads remain subject to the personal-use restrictions above.
No. Retention of existing downloads and access to new API responses are separate. To obtain new data or revised historical records, you need an active plan that includes the relevant API and history depth. Retained data cannot be redistributed simply because your subscription has ended.
Standard monthly subscriptions have a minimum commitment of one month. Annual subscriptions are paid for a full year. You can cancel renewal at any time; access continues through the paid period. The standard monthly student/academic discount offer requires a minimum of two months, as explained in the discount section below.
Under the Terms, subscription payments are final and non-refundable. We recommend testing with the free plan and the demo key before subscribing (see Trials).
About these answers
This page answers the questions we receive most often before people subscribe to a personal plan: how long downloaded data can be kept.
The answers on this page apply to all personal plans and reflect our Terms and Conditions (opens in a new tab), which are the only governing document for personal plans. We do not issue separate written permissions, licence letters or signed confirmations for personal use. If your use falls within the personal-use cases permitted here, additional confirmation is generally not needed. For cases that this FAQ directs to sales, or uses outside those described, contact sales@eodhistoricaldata.com.
