API limits and bulk downloads
Daily and per-minute limits, request costs and how to raise them.
For core subscription APIs, the main limits and request costs are:
- Daily limit: a default of 100,000 API calls per day on paid core plans, 20 on the Free plan. It resets at midnight GMT; the displayed counter is reset by the first API request after midnight.
- Minute limit: 1,000 requests per minute.
- Request cost: most requests cost 1 API call, and some endpoints cost more (for example, a whole-exchange Bulk API request costs 100 calls).
Marketplace quotas are separate. Each Marketplace product has its own allowance, separate from the core subscription allowance and from other Marketplace products. The standard Marketplace quota resets 24 hours after that product's first request, rather than at midnight GMT. Ordinary extra API-call balances do not extend Marketplace quotas. Check the applicable product documentation for its quota and request costs.
Details are on the API Limits (opens in a new tab) page. You can check your current usage with the User API (opens in a new tab).
No, beyond the limits above. For a whole market on a single day, use the Bulk API (opens in a new tab) (100 API calls per exchange per day). For the full history of one ticker, use the End-of-Day API (opens in a new tab) (1 API call per request).
For core subscription APIs, yes. You can raise the daily limit with the widget in your dashboard or by contacting support. You can also buy extra API calls in your dashboard. These don't raise the daily limit; they never expire and are used once the daily limit is exhausted. Neither ordinary extra API calls nor a core-plan limit increase extends a Marketplace product's quota. Marketplace limit increases are not available through the core-plan self-service widget; contact support about the particular product if you need a higher allowance.
